PRACTICAL EDUCATION

What are the worst problems in the United States? Some would say crime, some healthcare, Number one on my list, is education. All societal problems can be linked to the faulty foundation of American citizens, better known as, Public Education. Let's reflect for a moment, we start elementary school, then proceed to middle school(Junior High) then high school, then off to college, where we earn degrees and become well paid, highly productive citizens right? In most cases, wrong. This seems to be the overrall goal but in most cases, these are not the results. What is the major difference between our education and the education in other countries? We are only taught how to work for someone else, entrepeneurship is only introduced at a college level. Even then only with certain majors. Why? Most of our private school counterparts have curriculum that teaches about economy and how to make your money work for you, not to mention in-home examples(watching dad do payroll at his company) A great number of public school attendees however walk across the stage earning a diploma, never having heard of such.
Why isn't public school curriculum more practical? You know, news students can use.
High schools and even junior high teaches Trigonometry, Calculus, Physics. Why? These are highly specialized subjects that only people going into very specific fields will ever have any use for. Which is why they teach them, in COLLEGE. Don't get me wrong every student needs a solid foundation in math, Algebra, Percentages, basic Statistics, Basic Geometry. That's it, concentrate on a strong knowledge of these and move on to that which can actually be used in the real world. Like TAXES! It makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE THAT STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL NOT KNOWING HOW TO FILE OUR OWN TAXES. We pay these low budget, inexperienced "Fast Tax"
businesses millions of dollars a year to do our taxes when it takes all of 20 minutes to DO IT YOURSELF. Why would we learn this in school?
It's a tool that we'll need for the rest of our lives. Instead bore a student to death with high level trigonometry he'll most likely never see
again. Pointless.
Why don't we know anything about investing our money? Again these are the ingredients to a productive citizen. No teacher of mine ever mentioned(at any length) about the stock market, money market accounts, certificates of deposit. Nothing. Why is that? Is our money only good for being spent at the mall? Or is it only good for spending on the uncertainty of a college education?
College is a great idea and it's wonderful that we're encouraged to attend but what's the use, if we're sent there unequipped. Aptitude tests should be given freshman year of high school to help students determine what exactly they're working towards. If not college will become a
bottomless pit of unmotivated adding and dropping of classes until a student is so far in debt it doesn't matter what job he gets afterwards,
all proceeds for the next 10 years will be Loan Payback. Going to college Undecided, is ridiculous, and highly Counterproductive. Why do
High schools push college so much? What's the real reason? Is it for their own benefit, for funding? "This many students from our school
went to college." Yes but how many graduated? How many are working in their field? Very different answers I'm sure.
Why let students have study halls and timewasting courses when there are many more useful subjects to be learned? Use this time to teach students how to be self reliant, how to work for themselves, how to navigate the economy, how to budget. Who's idea of education is being
taught anyway?
Just a little food for thought to chew on, I'd love to hear your opinion? After all, I'm just TheWomanAskingQuestions.

THE DOUBLE STANDARD: CHRIS BROWN AND RIHANNA

So these days the personal lives and relationships of celebrities, are more accessible to the general public than ever. From the places they go to the people they date, and even the state of their love affairs are made common knowledge. Anyone with a computer, Twitter, Facebook or even a television has heard about the recent ordeal involving rising R&B singer and her hugely popular male counterpart, singer Chris Brown. They were rumored to have been dating in the year prior to that now infamous night in February 2009, Grammy night.
According to Entertainment Weekly, People magazine, and several other media, while inside a vehicle Chris and Rihanna began to argue over a series of text messages Rihanna found in Chris phone, alleging that he was cheating. The going story [now that all most of the details have been revealed one way or another] is that Rihanna spat on Chris, and at one point took off her stiletto heel and proceeded to hit him in the face. Afterwards a violent FIGHT ensued. Chris was said to have even pushed her head into the window at some point and held it there. SInce this time Chris has been ordered to pay a hefty fine, and has been sentenced to several thousand hours of community service. Chris has also been banned from radioplay at several stations, and Walmart has also refused to sell his music. Even B.E.T. barred him from performing at Michael Jackson's tribute ceremony, though Jackson's family requested Chris specifically as "what Michael would've wanted." Rihanna has done a "tell-all" interview with Diane Sawyer where she talked in depth about how she feared for her life and has since sky-rocketed to an even higher level of fame.
#Now, there's the back-story. Here's what I would like to know.
~~Doesn't it take two people to have a FIGHT? Why is it only Chris Brown that seems to be being punished? Is Chris Brown the first[or even the thousandth] celebrity to do something thats considered criminal? Or is it the fact that he had a "squeaky clean image" to begin with that he's not allowed to make mistakes? Should he have been a "thug" from the beginning, would that be more acceptable? Why is is that Black Entertainment Television is turning its back on one youth involved in the situation but not the other? Was is just more convenient to take the side of the female?
~~I would ask Rihanna.....If you feared for your life and Chris suddenly "had no soul" why did you stay with him the rest of the night and the following weeks? Had you perpetrated acts of violence toward him in other arguments before? Don't you have domestic violence on your record? Your image is somewhat gothic and rock driven so why is it that on the interview with Diane Sawyer you died your hair blonde, and completely changed your style, no dark makeup, no tattoos showing, nothing?
~~I would ask Chris Brown.....Why are you not defending yourself? On your MTV interview you offered no explanation other than anger, why? Had you all been in altercations before? Why are you not defending yourself? Why are you not defending yourself? Why didn't you speak out when BET refused to honor Michael Jackson's family's request?
This is not a turn your other cheek type of event, Chris has been branded as a violent abuser and Rihanna, has become a huge, huge star. In his interview, he wore RED, a low lying skullcap, and offered limited explanation, basically not refuting one single detail of the story we've heard. Chris. FIRE YOUR PUBLICIST. Even on the Larry King show, Chris' mother said she still loves Rihanna and considers her a daughter. No one is standing up for Chris. Rihanna has a song on her CD way before this incident entitled "IMA FIGHT A MAN TONIGHT" why has no one mentioned that? She's a dark individual. Her newest Cd boasts lyrics such as "I lick the gun when im done/cuz i know that revenge is sweet." Another track talks about burning her lovers car and breaking the windshield. Can we say deranged?
Not to sound cliche but everyone does make mistakes and the results of this situation are beyond unfair. The sponsors, networks, and stations are sending the message that when two young people get into a fight and one of them is a man, the woman deserves to go on with her life as usual, and the man does not. Why doesn't Chris deserve to be a star any more? He's still a talented and promising young man. He has been to anger management and served extensive community service, why is he still being punished? If we are going to ban the music of celebrities in legal trouble, i fear the airways would be very empty, at the very least, extremely different. Chris has recently spoken out about his music not being played on the radio and made a plea for fans to bombard stations with requests. But is it too little too late?
This is my take on the situation but what do i know; I'M JUST THE WOMAN ASKING QUESTIONS.
